Thank you Fat Gratitude Productions, for the creation of this video!
I just wanted to update you on some of the family support activities we have begun in Van Buren County. I know that some areas in the TBV geography have better access to diapers than others, so you may not want to replicate this. However, early on we recognized a need for diapers and baby formula that we had trouble accessing in VB county through the pantries.
We did set up two closet areas: one in Paw Paw and one in South Haven. Through the efforts of our volunteers (now known as the Van Buren Gleaners), we have stocked them with diapers and a limited amount of baby formula. We have done this both by working with local churches and synagogues on specific drives. The VB Dems also held a diaper drive for us.
We are now focusing on toilet paper, women's feminine hygiene products, specifically sanitary napkins, and baby/feminine wipes. These are real needs experienced by our families. We will reach out to businesses and local manufacturers for their support!
At the same time, we will be working to support our local pantries, who have been so helpful and generous to our families. Any items that are donated to us that would be more appropriately handled by a local pantry will be donated to them. There may be times when we help raise money for these services, who provide broad assistance to everyone in our communities. Perhaps we do some combined drives with them. We are just beginning, and if there is anyone out there who wants to get involved, please pm me--thanks!"
